QuakeSight, on iOS, Android and the web, is built on openly published scientific and geographic data. We are grateful to the organisations below. None of them endorses QuakeSight.

Earthquake data

EMSC

Earthquake parameters, felt reports and comments are provided by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) through seismicportal.eu, together with the seismological networks that contribute to it.

USGS

Earthquake parameters and "Did You Feel It?" intensity data are provided by the U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program. USGS data is in the public domain.

Place names

Nearby-town labels (for example "12 km NE of Durrës, Albania") use place names and coordinates from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0. We changed the data: we selected populated places with at least 1,000 inhabitants, and QuakeSight calculates the distances and directions shown in the labels.

Maps

Maps on the website and in the Android app use tiles from OpenFreeMap © OpenMapTiles, with map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. The iOS app uses Apple Maps.
